Terms and Conditions

Effective date: August 15, 2026

Although this is a private music studio operated from my residence rather than a traditional school, maintaining clear policies helps create a productive, organized, and enjoyable learning environment for everyone. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Payment Policy

Payment for lessons may be made by Zelle, Cash App, personal check, or cash.

Payment due date

Payment for the next lesson period is due on the last lesson that has been paid for. Timely payment reserves your weekly lesson time and allows lessons to continue without interruption. If payment is not received by the due date, your lesson slot is not guaranteed and may be offered to another student. Once payment is received, every effort will be made to schedule lessons, but the original lesson time may no longer be available.

L esson Cancellation Policy

  • A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If proper notice is given, the lesson may be rescheduled within the current paid lesson period
  • No refunds or lesson credits will be issued for student-initiated cancellations. If the canceled lesson is the student's last prepaid lesson and there is no remaining paid lesson period in which to reschedule it, the student will instead receive an online make-up lesson as described in the Online Make-up Lesson Policy below.
  • Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full lesson fee and are not eligible for rescheduling, an online make-up lesson, a refund, or lesson credit.
  • Students who do not attend a scheduled lesson without prior notice (no-shows) will be charged the full lesson fee and are not eligible for rescheduling, an online make-up lesson, a refund, or lesson credit.
  • If I must cancel a lesson, the student will receive either a lesson credit or the opportunity to reschedule the lesson at no additional cost.
  • Requests for exceptions due to extraordinary circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the instructor's sole discretion.

Emergencies, Severe Illness, Dangerous Weather, and Same-Day Cancellations

If a student becomes ill on the day of the lesson or experiences an emergency, please notify me as soon as possible.

  • Same-day illness or emergency: Because the lesson time has been reserved exclusively for the student, same-day cancellations are not eligible for a refund.
  • Online make-up lesson: Students who miss a lesson because of illness, an emergency, or dangerous weather will be provided with a 45-minute interactive online make-up lesson. The lesson will include instructional material appropriate for the student's current level and conclude with a short assessment to verify understanding of the material covered.
  • In-person make-up lessons: In-person make-up lessons are not offered under any circumstances.

Contagious Illness Policy

The health and well-being of all students is a priority.

Students must not attend lessons in person if they have:

  • A fever
  • Cold or flu symptoms
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Symptoms of any contagious illness

Please notify me as soon as possible if your child is ill. Once the student is feeling well enough to participate, they may complete the 45-minute online make-up lesson.

Late Arrival Policy

Students are expected to arrive on time for their scheduled lessons.

  • Lessons cannot be extended beyond their scheduled ending time because other students and appointments follow.
  • Regardless of the student's arrival time, the lesson will end at its originally scheduled time.

Vacation Policy

To help maintain a consistent lesson schedule.

  • If a student will be away on vacation and has prepaid lessons, those lessons will be reserved and may be used after the student returns.
  • If a student will be away on vacation without prepaid lessons, payment for the next four scheduled lessons is required in advance to reserve the student's lesson time. Those prepaid lessons will be held and may be used upon the student's return.

Band Attendance Policy

Band rehearsals depend on every member being present, prepared, and committed. An absence affects not only the individual student but also the learning experience and rehearsal progress of the entire group.

  • Repeated absences or last-minute cancellations may result in the student being excluded from an upcoming performance.
  • If absences significantly interfere with the band's progress, the student may lose their place in the current band.

Thank you for respecting these policies. They are intended to ensure fairness, consistency, accountability, and the highest quality learning experience for every student.
